Key Points

  • The article points readers to a website, ethicalaidepartures.fyi, that tracks researchers and executives who left major AI labs (including OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic) citing safety concerns.
  • It claims the tracker analyzes recurring patterns in the types of safety-related concerns raised across different companies and departures.
  • The site extracts specific predictions made by former employees and monitors whether those predictions come true, reporting some as confirmed, some disproven, and several still unresolved.
  • The post suggests the observed number of documented departures may be incomplete because many people may leave “quietly,” and it invites discussion on how representative the dataset is.

Found this site that tracks researchers and executives who left OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and others over safety concerns.

It's kind of amazing to see the patterns; concerns become really obvious across companies. I love AI but do want to see regulations.

The interesting part: it extracts specific predictions the researchers made and tracks whether they come true. 4 confirmed, 1 disproven, 6 still open.

I would think there are others, the number is not that high, but maybe also most people who leave do it quietly? What do you think?
