Key Points

  • The post asks whether the ARC PRO B70 is a meaningful step forward for the sub-$2000 self-hosted homelab market or just another incremental option.
  • The author frames the comparison as potentially being about competing with buying existing high-end GPUs (e.g., “3090s on the dip”) while attention is drawn to an alternative 32GB-focused offering.
  • The discussion seeks an informed explanation of the practical technical and value differences, including whether the ARC PRO B70 materially changes local AI deployment.
  • Overall, it’s a community-driven inquiry meant to calibrate excitement and expectations rather than a report of a concrete new release.

I'm a straight-up idiot with a passing fascination with self-hosted AI, is this going to be a big shift in the sub $2000 homlab landscape, or just buy 3090's on the dip while people are distracted by the 32GB part?

I have no clue, but I do have sub $2000!
