Key Points

  • A Reddit user asks whether Google DeepMind is known to “ghost” applicants, especially when there is no follow-up for weeks after initial positive contact.
  • The post describes a scenario where the applicant had prior conversations with a team research scientist and then received no further official or unofficial communication.
  • The central question is how to interpret silence after application outreach—whether it typically means rejection or is a normal part of DeepMind’s hiring process.
  • The discussion is framed as experiential/behavioral hiring process feedback rather than a documented policy or a new organizational announcement.

Hey sub, I'm sorry if this is a wrong place to ask but I don't see a sub for ML roles separately. I was wondering if deepmind is known to send rejections, or if you don't hear back for a few weeks it's just a rejection? I've read they regularly ghost applicants.

I had been in conversation with the research scientist of the team when I applied for the role and they replied in a neutral/positive way after I sent them my cv and interest in the role. Since then I haven't had any contact officially/unofficially.
