Key Points

  • A Reddit user reports that Gemma 4 (e2b variant) runs at about 40 tk/s on an iPhone 17 Pro, versus roughly 13 tk/s on a Google Pixel 10 Pro in their testing.
  • The post attributes the performance gap to the speed of Apple silicon, suggesting iPhones may currently outperform some Android phones for running this model locally.
  • The user frames the result as an early signal that Android hardware may be “catching up” in future iterations.
  • The article does not provide broader benchmarks or methodology beyond the user’s specific comparison, so the finding should be treated as anecdotal until replicated.

Gemma 4 e2b only runs at 13tk/s on my google pixel 10 pro while it runs at 40 tk/s on iPhone 17 pro.
People underestimate how fast apple silicon is.

Hopefully android catches up.
